Conditioning

Norscan's cable conditioning products provide industry standard grounding (earthing) connections that ensure the safety of personnel and equipment. Cable conditioning also supports the use of Norscan's monitoring and locating solutions to maximize network quality, and minimize maintenance and replacement costs.

Intelligent Grounding (Earthing)
The benchmark for many of North America's highest valued fibre networks, Norscan's Intelligent Grounding equipment provides an industry standard ground path for metallic armour and trace wire, while supporting Norscan's monitoring and locating technology. The components have been proven in harsh environments above and below grade, as well as in extreme temperatures and unforgiving terrain.

Voltage Filters
Armoured fibre optic cables, installed in close proximity to power lines, are routinely exposed to induced voltage. This voltage can damage equipment and present a significant safety concern for personnel handling the cable. Norscan's voltage filters provide a low impedance path to ground for induced fundamental and harmonic frequencies, reducing these voltages to safe levels.

Moisture Detection
A fibre network conditioned with Norscan's Intelligent Earthing equipment can interface with Norscan's environmental sensors, specifically the Splice Sensor Unit. Capable of detecting the accumulation of moisture in splice closures, this sensor identifies the exact location of the fault - giving maintenance teams the maximum amount of time to resolve the problem before permanent damage occurs.
